Warped Humor
Marshall Tucker is a blind piano tuner in Columbia, SC. He may be the greatest piano player ever, and gave his name to the famous Marshall Tucker Band.
My wife, Kathleen, had the honor of knowing him personally while she worked at the Federation Center of the Blind. Mr. Tucker told her the following joke:
It was Judgment Day, and all the people of Earth were lined up at the Golden Gate, hoping to enter Heaven. The Lord told Saint Peter that all that was required to get into Heaven was one act of kindness.
A rich man was next in line, with diamonds on his fingers, gold around his neck, and dressed in the finest silk. Saint Peter asked if he ever performed a single act of kindness. The rich man hummed, hawed, and shuffled his feat as he tried to think of one kind act. “Well,” he said, I think I gave two dollars to a beggar once.”
Saint Peter shook his head. “That is extremely weak,” he said. But I will ask the Lord to make your final judgment. Saint Peter described the man and told his story to the Lord. “What should I do, Lord?”
The Lord Replied, “Give him back his two dollars, and tell him to go to Hell.” |

OSHA is extending the comment period before releasing a new interpretation of “feasibility” as related to hearing conservation engineering controls. The new interpretation may require engineering controls for exposures between 90 dBA and 100 dBA. The announcement may be viewed here.
OSHA has an outstanding web page regarding Pandemic Influenza. It is not a question of “if,” only “when.”
OSHA reports that employers participating in the OSHA Challenge Pilot Program report a 40% drop in their accident and illness rates. This program is designed for employers seeking help reaching VPP status.
